Ms. Marvel, also known as Carol Danvers, is a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. and later recruited into the Avengers after adding Kree DNA into her body to gain super strength and flight.

History[]

Lieutenant Carol Danvers became recently Nick Fury's second-in-command. After the Justice League saved the Genoshan ambassador, Danvers accompanied Nick Fury in Washington where she was strongly against Superman's decline of the offer to join the Avengers and the Justice League's free-will to act without government control. She like many others in the United States strongly believe that Kryptonian weapons technology would be more beneficial to end the war in the Middle East much faster, and also personally pointing out that Kal-El is technically an American citizen and by rights he has the duty to help the country.

Following a battle between the Justice League and Magneto's Acolytes, a Kree ship was recovered by S.H.I.E.L.D. and Carol volunteered herself to be the test subject for the new genetic enhancements with Kree physiology implanted in her, granting her superhuman abilities.

Powers and abilities[]

After the discovery of two crashed Kree ships at the bottom of the atlantic (which were subsequently raised by Magneto and Polaris, then aquired by S.H.I.E.L.D), Carol Danvers volunteered to undergo experemental genetic enhancement using the reasearch gleaned from the Kree research vessel. Following the procedure, she gained superhuman strength, agility and endurance, as well as flight and the ability to fire beams and bolts of energy from her hands.

Personality[]

Carol Danvers is a very strict military officer, who takes her duties to protect her country very seriously. She's convinced that they're at war, and that they need every advantage they can get, which causes her friction with Superman when he refuses to join S.H.I.E.L.D. and later to share his Kryptonian technology. This mindset seems to stem from the death of her husband, which clearly affected her deeply.

However, after talking to Superman about the Law of Riona Prime and the origin of the Inhumans, she became more tolerant and understanding of his way of thinking, and despite her own reservations, she's more willing to work alongside him and the Justice League when the situation calls for it.
